What was the name of that movie?

When I was a young kid I saw a movie on one of those horror channels where there were these creatures that would drop down on people and would proceed to crush and presumably "eat" it's victims. From what I remember, they were kind of round and had lumpy armor-like shell or skin surface. It seemed like they probably had huge jaws or teeth on their undersides. They also had huge grasping tendrils that in one case pulled a man down to the ground as the man made a feeble attempt to kill the creature with an ax. In the end I think that they killed the creatures by injecting cows with radioactive material and then let the creatures eat them. The sound effects of these bone-crushing creatures kind of stuck with me over the years. I'm sure that if I saw the movie today (now that I'm 45) I'd probably laugh and call it cheesy. I never saw it again and have since been hard-pressed to find anybody else who ever saw it.
