Website advice please!?

Your website looks alright, if you wrote the HTML yourself i would advise you rewrite it because although the page works the HTML is so unnecessary. You have like 15 div tags in the head where you could get the same result with just 4 also div tags. I see what you mean about the homemade look, i would suggest that you remove you welcome to users and instead put updates to the site, it gives it a more professional look. Download the popular internet browsers, IE 8, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Sea Monkey and just test your site in them, you'll find IE 6 will majorly change your page layout but most people still use it so you need cross-browser compatibility.
